Sarah Scott, BSN-PHN - Developmental/ Intellectual Disability Nurse

I'm passionate about being a nurse, and I’ve dedicated the last 23 years to working as a Developmental/Intellectual Disability nurse. Supporting individuals with unique needs has been incredibly rewarding, and I’m grateful to be part of a team that’s committed to providing high-quality, compassionate care. Our team collaborates, problem-solves, and communicates effectively, ensuring our residents receive the respect and support they deserve. The challenges of DD/ID nursing keep me motivated to advocate for those who may not always have a voice, and each day brings a new opportunity to make a difference.

Outside of work, I enjoy painting, exploring new places, and savoring great food. These pursuits keep me balanced and inspired, adding creativity and joy to my life.

Time flies when you're doing what you love! For the past 24 years and counting, it has been both an honor and a privilege to work alongside supportive colleagues who make each day enjoyable and rewarding. The positive energy of my team and the meaningful connections we build with those we serve keep me inspired and motivated. I love my work because it brings out the best in me and allows me to make a real difference.

Outside of work, I’m an avid soccer player who values teamwork and a good challenge, and I find great joy in spending quality time with family and friends.  

I'm a Recreation Therapist with 14 years of experience, and for the past three years, I’ve had the privilege of working in this incredible community. I’m surrounded by a team of dedicated professionals who truly love what they do, creating an environment that feels like home for both staff and residents. Every day, I feel lucky to work alongside such caring, talented individuals who inspire and motivate me to make a difference.

Outside of work, you can usually find me exploring the outdoors with my two pups, who are always up for an adventure! They keep me active and bring endless joy to my life.

 I have proudly been part of the East Bay Care family since 2006, beginning my journey as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) and growing through various roles to become the Director of Sierra Day Program. Each step has given me valuable experience, a deeper understanding of the individuals we support, and a strong appreciation for the importance of compassionate, person-centered care.

I also know American Sign Language (ASL), which allows me to connect and communicate with individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing, helping ensure they feel understood, included, and supported.

What I love most about my work is that every day brings new opportunities to learn, grow, and make a meaningful difference in someone’s life. The relationships I have built with our clients and team make my work incredibly fulfilling, and I continue to learn just as much from the individuals we support as they do from us.

I feel truly blessed to be part of an organization that has allowed me to grow both personally and professionally. After all these years, I still love what I do and cannot imagine being anywhere else!

April Taylor is a Licensed Vocational Nurse and Certified Technical Educator with a strong

background in post-acute, long-term, and community-based care. In her role at the adult day

program, she is dedicated to promoting health, safety, and quality of life for participants while

fostering a supportive, person-centered environment.

 My name is Karina, and I have been part of the East Bay Care team since 2004. Over the years, working with our clients has taught me the importance of kindness, patience, and meaningful connections. I enjoy practicing American Sign Language (ASL) to strengthen my communication with individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.

One of the most rewarding parts of my job is enriching our clients’ lives by introducing them to new experiences through arts, crafts, and community outings. I love creating opportunities for them to explore their interests, express themselves, and enjoy new adventures.

Outside of work, I enjoy camping, fishing, hiking, spending quality time with my family, and working on my own art projects.

My name is Elizabeth, and I serve as the Program Director of Community Day Program at East Bay Care. My journey in the developmental disabilities field began back in 2002 when I was first introduced to this work and immediately fell in love with everything it stands for. Since joining the East Bay Care family in 2004, this role has become much more than a career—it is a personal calling that continually inspires me to be the best version of myself every single day. I am deeply dedicated to creating safe, joyful, and enriching environments where adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities can build independence, build meaningful connections, and thrive within their community. To ensure I can foster inclusive, barrier-free communication with those we serve, I also actively continue expanding my knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL). Away from work, my greatest joy is spending quality time with my family, whether we are relaxing at home together or setting off on new outdoor adventures to discover nature and learn about different cultures and beliefs. e whole person."

 My name is Jeanna, and I am a proud Hayward, California, native. I have been part of the East Bay Care team since 2011 and am passionate about supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). I find great fulfillment in helping our clients live meaningful lives and value the opportunity to collaborate with a dedicated team that shares this commitment.

Outside of work, I am happily married and a proud mom of two sons and grandmother to a granddaughter whom I absolutely love to spoil! In my free time, I enjoy hiking, reading, and making special memories with my family. 

I have been with the agency since 2021 and truly value the work I do. My role is deeply fulfilling, providing a strong sense of purpose and satisfaction. I take pride in contributing meaningfully and enjoy the challenges and rewards my job offers.

Outside of work, I cherish spending quality time with my family and have a passion for exploring new places.

 I have proudly been part of the East Bay Care family since 2014 and currently serve as the House Lead at Sundale House. Caring for our clients is more than just a job to me—it is something I truly love. I take great pride in helping each person look and feel their best, supporting their individuality, and making sure they feel cared for, respected, and valued every day.

One of my favorite parts of my work is sharing special moments with our clients and coworkers, especially during team outings and community adventures that bring everyone together and create lasting memories. I also feel incredibly fortunate to work with compassionate and understanding leaders who genuinely care about their employees and foster a supportive environment where I feel appreciated.

Outside of work, I find happiness in the simple things: spending time outdoors surrounded by nature, relaxing at home with my dogs, and making memories with my husband and siblings. Whether at work or at home, family, kindness, and caring for others are at the heart of what I do.
